Piggybacking oodles of comfort and a new way to manage chores, Archos has recently announced a new Android-based multimedia tablet – the Archos 7.

Specifically designed to enhance one’s digital lifestyle, the home tablet bridges the gap between the smartphone and the desktop PC to provide always-on access to the web and multimedia content in a large-screen format.

The massive screen with high resolution makes Archos 7 an ideal device for browsing the web, reading and sending email, enjoying photos, watching videos, listening to music, playing games, and much more. Claimed to be the first 7-inch Android tablet, the offering boasts of a slim form factor of only 12mm thick.

Weighing around 350g, the Archos 7 is extremely portable and can be easily carried around the home. Users can now always be in touch with the world around them through easy access to information services such as news, weather and local business directories. The video player software ensures a great movie and YouTube viewing experience.

In addition, the tablet consumes power at a very modest rate thus allowing up to 7 hours of video playback and up to 44 hours of music from a full battery charge.

The new Archos 7 home tablet comes with a starting price of $199 (approx Rs. 8,975). It is anticipated to hit shelves in April 2010.
