Panasonic reveals new Toughbook H1 Field Tablet Computer

In response to such increasing demands, Panasonic has recently released the brand-new Panasonic Toughbook H1 Field, a handheld tablet computer. Claimed to be the world’s most rugged handheld tablet computer, the latest offering enables extreme mobility and productivity and emerges as a compelling solution for mobile workers.

Certified to meet IP65 and MIL-STD-810G, the H1 Field comes equipped with optional SmartCard, RFID, barcode readers, camera, GPS and Qualcomm’s new Gobi2000 mobile broadband technology. By leveraging Panasonic’s advanced battery technology and 1.86 GHz Intel Atom processor, the new device offers users a category-leading six hours of battery life, complemented by twin hot-swappable batteries for limitless use, virtually eliminating down time.

The Toughbook H1 Field features a 500 nit, 10.4-inch dual-touch display that proffers both tablet and touchscreen functionality. In fact, the display subsumes a circular polarizer, plus anti-glare and anti-reflective screen treatments, making it easily viewable in direct sunlight. Weighing merely 3.4 lbs, this mobile computing platform comes integrated with 2GB of RAM and a 64GB reinforced flex-connect solid state drive.

Additionally, the highly-efficient device offers unrivaled ergonomics and embraces a wide range of embedded wireless connectivity options including 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 and Qualcomm’s new Gobi2000 technology.

Further, the H1 Field is enriched with multiple security features including options for contactless or insertable SmartCard reader and a fingerprint reader, ensuring that critical data is secured. In fact, the new handheld tablet can also be incorporated with next generation GPS technology allowing for location-based services with improved accuracy, faster satellite acquisition time and lower power consumption.

The Panasonic Toughbook H1 Field will be available worldwide in March 2010. Backed by a 3-year standard warranty and lifetime technical support, the device is anticipated to be priced at $3,379 (approx Rs. 156,903).
