Toshiba Portégé M700 Series of Tablet PC Released

Toshiba Portégé M700 Series Tablet PC Toshiba has extended its Portégé notebook series with the new Tablet PC series named M700. It is the first tablet PC from Toshiba to feature a touch screen LED backlit display.

“Toshiba’s Portégé M700 Tablet PC provides mobile professionals with an exceptionally intuitive Tablet PC to meet their mobile computing needs,” said Jeff Barney, vice president of marketing, Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. “Building upon many years of successful Toshiba Tablet PC platforms, the Portégé M700 incorporates our customer’s most requested features resulting in Toshiba’s most powerful and versatile Tablet PC to date.”

The backlit display is equipped with anti-glare coating that will allow users to view the screen when indoors as well as outdoors. The widescreen 12.1-inch WXGA display is also more 30 percent clearer than standard 12.1-inch XGA display.

Intel Centrino Pro processor1 technology, including Intel Core 2 Duo Processors, Intel 965 Express chipset, Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965AGN supporting draft 802.11n, and Intel Active Management Technology (AMT 2.6) are some of the other features of the Portégé M700 series tablets.

Also the new M700 includes entertainment features like an optional DVD SuperMulti Drive and 1.3 megapixel Webcam. An improved hinge and display guide/peg mechanism ensures security of locking system of the display in the notebook and in Tablet PC mode.

The M700 series also features Shock Absorbing Design and a Spill Resistant Keyboard that will protect the keyboard from accidental spill of water, coffee or even other liquids.

The new tablet PC from Toshiba comes in two versions- the Portégé M700-S7002 and Portégé M700-S7001X. The Portégé M700-S7002 is available at the estimated price of $1,799 (around Rs. 70,807), while the M700-S7001X’s approximate price is $1,699 (around Rs. 66,876).
