The demand for compact storage solutions which competently offer excellent transfer speeds and slip into a handbag without any issue is certainly increasing at a frenetic pace. Fulfilling the requirements of its consumers, OCZ Technology has unleashed the lightweight VeloDrive PCI-Express SSD.

The offering is touted to be a suitable solution for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), enterprise clients and system integrators. Users can ensure advanced performance levels, reliability and durability with the device’s incredible functionalities and features. The unit can function efficiently in hardware or software RAID mode and can be adopted in half-height or full-height system requirements.

“The VeloDrive is the latest addition to our comprehensive lineup of PCIe SSDs. A truly configurable solution, it helps a range of customers accelerate their application performance,” remarked Daryl Lang, VP of Product Management, OCZ Technology Group. “The ability to run the VeloDrive in multiple modes provides clients with the freedom to use the raid stack of their choice. This maximizes performance and creates faster, more seamless deployments with RAID stacks that may already have been qualified for their unique usage model.”

The VeloDrive sports a negligible impact on system resources comprising CPU utilization and the system’s DRAM footprint. This storage solution is capable of delivering transfer speeds of around 1GB/s and 1,30,000 4KB random write IOPS. It sports SandForce SF-1565 SSD processors and uses MLC NAND flash. It will be up for grabs in varying capacities of 300GB, 600GB and 1.2TB.

The pricing and availability details are unclear as of now.
