Seagate Constellation.2 enterprise hard drive promises to render 6GB/s performance, improved data integrity and low power consumption. The company has now announced the availability of its Barracuda Green hard drive.
Formerly known as Barracuda LP, the newest solution claims to merge highest spin speed with the company’s SmartAlign technology. This enthralling technology puts forth all the advantages of the new 4K sector standard. It also amplifies drive installation by discarding the need for regular utilities required to enhance drive performance.
“Not only do Barracuda Green drives offer environmental improvements in power consumption and material usage, but these drives are also among the first hard drives from Seagate to offer SmartAlign technology,†remarked Rajesh Khurana, Seagate country manager for India and SAARC. “This is important because the industry is transitioning to 4K sector formatting called Advanced Format to improve capacities and maintain strong error correction. However, the transition to Advanced Format without SmartAlign Technology can be complex and require additional integration steps and software utilities to avoid performance degradation. SmartAlign technology removes these concerns and makes this transition virtually invisible for our customers.â€
The offering touts to be the highest performance eco-friendly 3.5-inch desktop drive mainly for low-powers PCs, multi-drive home networking systems and external PC storage. The Barracuda Green drive lowers overall system cost and lends support to Seagate Think Green programs. The solution utilizes low halogen components to reduce the undesirable environmental impacts.
This new hard drive is shipping to the worldwide distribution channel and can be snapped up in varying capacities like 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB.
