Designed for blade servers, high performance PCs, professional workstations, and 1U and 2U rack servers, the new hard drives bring a perfect combination of exceptional performance and increased capacity. Claimed to be the only 10,000 RPM SATA device on the market today, it now comes packed with twice the capacity and up to 15 percent performance increase over the previous generation.
The new VelociRaptor is built with enterprise-class mechanics and features up to 600GB of capacity into a 2.5-inch enterprise form factor. Concurrently, it is also available in the IcePack enclosure, a 3.5-inch mounting frame with a built-in heat sink – a factory customization that fits the drive into a standard 3.5-inch system bay and keeps this sturdy device extra cool when installed in a high-performance desktop chassis and 3.5-inch HDD form factor enterprise chassis.

In addition, the WD VelociRaptor hard drives come equipped with ultra-cool operation – consuming no more power than the previous generation drives. Its integrated Rotary Acceleration Feed Forward optimizes operation and functionality when the drives are used in vibration-prone, multi-drive chassis. Stepping in a halogen-free design, the offering also boasts of the NoTouch ramp load technology.
The Western Digital VelociRaptor drives are available now at select distributors and resellers. Users will have to shell out Rs. 15,999 for the 450GB model and Rs. 17,599 for the 600 GB model.
