Maxwell Boostcap ultracapacitors power SSDs

Maxwell Technologies Logo Catering to the increasing demands of several producers of high performance solid-state drives that employ ultracapacitors to supply integrated backup power in enterprise storage products, Maxwell recently augmented the production capacity for small cell Boostcap ultracapacitors.

Presently, Maxwell is supplying production level quantities of Boostcap ultracapacitor cells ranging from 10 to 25 farads for SSD power loss protection. The Boostcap ultracapacitor cells and multi-cell modules deliver safe and reliable power solutions for applications in consumer and industrial electronics, transportation and telecommunications.

“Ultracapacitors provide an independent, instantly available, source of backup power to ensure that no data is lost in the event of a main power system failure, and with their durability and long operational life they should never need to be serviced or replaced. The compact, prismatic form factor of our BOOSTCAP PC10 product even enables some SSD producers to integrate a ‘mini-UPS’ system into their drives without modifying the form factor,” mentioned David Schramm, Maxwell’s CEO and president.
