This 1.8-inch device is designed for slender and light mobile PCs and handy external hard disk drives.
Also they are shock and vibration resistant. 160GB, 250GB and 320GB are the capacities that are available in the new series. The company will begin mass production of the HDD by December, 2009.
Development of the MK3233GSG family’s perpendicular magnetic recording head and the disk’s magnetic layer fasten an areal thickness of 801Mbit/mm2 (516Gbpsi), which is claimed to be the industry’s highest for 1.8-inch HDDs.
