Toshiba uncloaks MK3233GSG 320GB HDD

MK3233GSG Toshiba HDD

Movie buffs who are craving to store tons of movies but have limited storage capacity in their PC can now heave a sigh of relief for Toshiba has added MK3233GSG, a 320GB HDD in their product line-up. This 1.8-inch device is designed for slender and light mobile PCs and handy external hard disk drives.

Also they are shock and vibration resistant. 160GB, 250GB and 320GB are the capacities that are available in the new series. The company will begin mass production of the HDD by December, 2009.

Development of the MK3233GSG family’s perpendicular magnetic recording head and the disk’s magnetic layer fasten an areal thickness of 801Mbit/mm2 (516Gbpsi), which is claimed to be the industry’s highest for 1.8-inch HDDs. These device also provides extremely effective power use, elevated sturdiness and silent seek operation.

The HDD comes with a serial ATA interface, 5,400 RPM rotational speed and a huge capacity of 16MB buffer memory. This serial ATA interface includes a 3.0Gbps data transfer rate. These HDDs can be perfect for notebook PC applications that need elevated storage capacity and high speed processing. The areal density improvement lets MK3233GSG to enhance internal data transfer rates by about 15% from the MK2529GSG, the company’s former 250GB 1.8-inch HDD.

The new 250GB and 320GB drives, the MK2533GSG and MK3233GSG, slash auditory sound during seek to 19dB. The MK3233GSG clan offers considerable environment-friendly performance. The new drives attain chlorine and bromine concentrations below 900ppm and a pooled by and large sum below 1,500ppm, thereby meeting the standard necessary for credit as Toshiba environmentally conscious products (ECP).

These devices reduce CO2 emissions across the product lifecycle by 36g per year, by diminishing product power utilization and environmental load from the raw materials stage. The new devices include antimony content below 1,000ppm, thereby attaining the standard needed at Toshiba. The HDD complies with the European Union’s RoHS directive on the exclusion of 6 dangerous materials in electrical and electronic equipment.

The price and availability of these devices are not known.
