Western Digital launches 1TB mobile hard drive in India

WD Mobile Hard Drives Western Digital recently released two new mobile hard drives in India that offer tremendous storage capacity. Powered by the renowned 333GB-per-platter technology, the latest Scorpio Blue 2.5″ hard drive series offers up to 1TB capacity. The company has also introduced a 750GB mobile hard drive.

Both the hard drives come with a 12.5mm form factor. These devices are suitable for use in portable storage solutions, like the recent My Passport Essential SE Portable USB Drives. These storage devices offer a remarkable transfer rate of 3 gigabits per second.

“The convergence of the growing mobile computing and digital media trends produces demand for desktop-like capacities in portable devices. Our new WD Scorpio Blue drives enable people to take even more of their digital collections with them wherever they go and, realizing the value of their data, back up their notebooks on their My Passport drives,” remarked Sharad Srivastava, Director, Director India and South Asia, Western Digital.

These hard drives employ WhisperDrive technology, which make them one of the quietest 2.5″ drives currently available. It is also equipped with the ShockGuard technology that integrates firmware and hardware advancements to meet the highest combined shock tolerance specifications needed for mobile and notebook applications. Further the SecurePark feature ascertains that the recording head does not touch the disk surface. Hence users can experience long-term reliability owing to fewer head wear and enhanced shock tolerance.

However, the 1TB device (model WD10TEVT) is available now and configured into My Passport Essential SE USB drives. The 1TB drive is priced at Rs 12,980 MSRP and the 750GB version at Rs.9880.
