Buffalo Technology introduces two new consumer NAS devices in India

Buffalo NAS Devices Buffalo has announced the LinkStation Live and TeraStation Live consumer NAS devices in India. The products are designed to allow consumers to instantly store and distribute multimedia files such as music, media back-ups, family videos and photos. The Buffalo devices are cost-effective, high-performance NAS solutions that administer to deliver superior reliability and usability.

The two devices integrate new features that allow them to be used as iTunes 7 software to access music stored on them. They can even store photos and videos directly from a digital camera, and instantly access, backup, store, and share multimedia/other files from PCs.

Besides, both the devices have been designed to DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) guidelines so that users can access videos, photos and music stored and play it back on any device designed to DLNA guidelines in the home.

The Buffalo LinkStation Live NAS device is available in a 250GB (HS-DH250GL), 320GB (HS-DH320GL), 500GB (HS-DH500GL) and 750GB (HS-DH750GL) capacities. The TeraStation Live NAS device is available in capacities of 1TB (HS-DH1.0TGL/R5) and 2TB (HS-DH2.0TGL/R5).

Both the LinkStation Live and TeraStation Live include Mediabolic’s Media Server software that makes music, photo, and video files available over a network for streamed playback on connected entertainment devices.

It features a high performance Marvell Media Vault Processor (while the LinkStation Live uses a 400MHz CPU, the TeraStation Live uses a 500MHz CPU); and DDR-II Ram and SATA hard drives for ultra fast transfer rates of up to 35MB/s. For even better performance, they include an Auto-MDIX10/100/1000 Base-T Gigabit Ethernet port and Gigabit Jumbo Frame support.

Both the NAS devices are compatible with Windows and Macintosh and have two USB 2.0 ports that can contain added external USB hard drives for expanded networked storage or as backup targets. Print server for sharing a network printer is also available.

The TeraStation Live includes five operational modes: RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10, RAID 5, and JBOD (Spanning).

The price of LinkStation Live NAS device is Rs.19,999 for the 250GB version, Rs.23,000 for the 320GB model and Rs.29,000 for the 500GB version and Rs. 58,00 for the 750GB version.

The new Buffalo TeraStation Live NAS device costs Rs.58,500 for the 1TB version, Rs.96,000 for the 2TB version and Rs.1,88,500 for the 3TB version. Both the LinkStation Live and the TeraStation Live are backed by a limited two-year warranty.
