Hitachi Deskstar P7K500 Desktop HDD promoted by Cyberstar in India

Cyberstar Hitachi Deskstar P7K500 Desktop HDD Cyberstar Infocom, distributor of IT peripherals, has announced that they are in the works of launching Hitachi’s most energy desktop hard disk drive, named the Deskstar P7K500 in India.

Designed for commercial and consumer PC’s in capacities ranging from 250GB to 500GB, it boasts 59 percent more power than comparable 250GB HDDs. Deskstar P7K500 represents a significant decrease in power consumption over its predecessor as well as competitive hard drives in its class.

To reduce the new desktop HDD’s active and idle power consumption by 40 percent over the previous generation, the Hitachi GST has implemented a set of power saving technologies. Available in one-disk and two-disk models, the P7K500 provides 7200 RPM performance and Serial –ATA interface. The one-disk model drive is best for power consumption, whereas two-disk model delivers significant power saving.

“With the Deskstar P7K500 hard drive, we have merged our various power management innovations into one drive, achieving leading power specifications that make a positive contribution to system power consumption,” remarked Shinjiro Iwata, executive Vice President of Hitachi GST.

Hitachi’s GST patented load/unload technology enables the Deskstar P7K500 to allow additional power reductions. Power specifications that are compatible with ‘green’ initiatives are also packed into the hard disk drives that produce power-friendly PC, ENERGY STAR compliant devices.

“Hitachi GST is known worldwide for manufacturing advanced hard disk drives. Deskstar P7K500 which is incorporated with Hitachi’ GST’s advanced power management capabilities is a must for all PC enthusiasts,” said Raj Rathi, MD, Cyberstar Infocom Ltd.

Available in 250GB, 320GB, 400GB and 500 GB configuration, Deskstar P7K500 comes with 185 billion bits per square inch maximum areal density. Moreover, 8MB (single disk) and 8MB and 16MB (two disk) data buffer are also bundled into the box.

You can operate the energy desktop in 0 degree to 60 degrees C ambient temperature. Integrated GST’s second generation perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) heads and disks enabling 250 GB per platter areal density and high level of reliability are also part of the hard disk drive.
