The newly disclosed Swann HD PenCam and PenCam 4GB have specially been created for video surveillance purposes and is expected to garner the attention of those involved in detective agencies or the spy business. These slim tools come embedded with DVR and a miniature video camera.
Users can employ these freshly unveiled pens for their basic function of writing as well as to shoot videos on the sly. The hidden footage can easily be shared on popular websites such as Facebook or YouTube. Both the devices are capable of recording high definition videos in the AVI format with a resolution of 1280 x 720p and even capturing high resolution JPEG images.
While the standard PenCam can be fitted with a 16GB microSD card, the PenCam 4GB, as its name suggests, comes incorporated with a built-in storage capacity of 4GB. Compatible with Macs and PCs, the pens can switch from video to photo mode and vice versa with a mere touch of a button.
Owners of the HD PenCam can transfer video clips and pictures to a PC using the included USB cable or a card reader. It runs on a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery which provides 45 minutes of operation time on a full charge. Users can record up to 8 hours of video or capture up to 72,000 still images, as proposed by the company.
The lower part of the PenCam 4GB consists of a USB connector that can be linked to a computer for backing up the captured content. It lets owners take up to 2 hours of video footage or click around 18,000 still images.
The Swann HD PenCam price reads as $99.99 (approx. Rs. 4,947) while the PenCam 4GB has a price tag of $69.99 (approx. Rs. 3,463) attached to it. The spy device is scheduled to retail via Costco.com, Amazon.com, FRY’s and other such major retailers.
