AMD Embedded G-Series platform gets ThreadX support

AMD Logo AMD recently announced that embedded software provider Express Logic has brought its ThreadX real-time operating system to the AMD Embedded G-Series platform. The AMD Embedded G-Series Accelerated Processing Unit renders an enhanced, low-power, multi-core x86 CPU and a discrete-class DirectX 11-capable GPU on a single, small-footprint die.

This series of APUs was developed mainly for the needs of embedded systems, most of which need the accurate, deterministic timing of a RTOS. ThreadX provides instant on and a footprint as small as 6KB with intuitive scaling as required by the application.

“A robust RTOS is critical for many embedded systems. With the addition of ThreadX to AMD’s growing embedded ecosystem, our customers can deploy the same reliable and royalty-free licensed OS that’s currently deployed in more than one billion industrial and consumer devices worldwide,” commented Buddy Broeker, Director, Embedded Solutions, AMD.

“The combination of the AMD Embedded G-Series APUs and ThreadX is a very attractive platform, especially for our customers in highly regulated markets like transportation, medical devices, and gaming, where reliability and time-to-market are critical,” added Buddy Broeker.

Express Logic has integrated an extensive range of features and tools conceptualized mainly to make its RTOS flawless to employ. It also provides a ThreadX Safety-Critical Certification Pack that can assist speed certification of regulated systems.

AMD in collaboration with Express Logic will be featuring this technology at the forthcoming Embedded Systems Conference.
