D-Link tosses in Amplifi family for networking solutions

D-Link Amplifi Family

D-Link offers an array of products for superior performance and optimized connectivity at industry-leading speeds at homes and SMBs. The newly launched D-Link Amplifi family consists of products like the HD Media Router 1000 (DIR-657), the Whole Home Router 1000 (DIR-645), the Wi-Fi Booster (DAP-1525) and PowerLine 500 products – DHP-500AV Adapter, DHP-501AV Starter Kit and DHP-540 Four-Port Gigabit Switch.

The HD Media Router 1000 with HD Fuel handles the traffic flow to provide better broadband connectivity with uninterrupted and fast video streaming, Skype calls and online gaming. It sports four Gigabit Ethernet ports, USB SharePort Plus, a slot for SD card and also allows streaming multiple content on several devices simultaneously. This IPv6-enabled device has a speed of 300Mbps.

The IPv6-ready Whole Home Products are said to provide optimal home wireless network bandwidth to manage devices at the same time with the help of its SmartBeam technology. Six antennas of the SmartBeam direct beams of bandwidth to individual devices anywhere at home. Besides four Gigabit Ethernet ports and SharePort Plus, they boast of Wi-Fi protected setups. The Whole Home Router 1000 with a speed of 300Mbps features QoS bandwidth prioritization and 128-bit security encryption for a safe network while the Wi-Fi Booster includes optional 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands.

“There are two main obstacles consumers typically face with today’s home networking — the need for a more powerful network to support HD streaming and signals throughout the home, and expanding Wi-Fi coverage into the farthest corners of the home, essentially having whole home coverage,” points out Daniel Kelley, associate vice president of consumer marketing, D-Link North America. “D-Link has solved these issues by investing heavily in R&D, and is excited to introduce our new patented technology as part of the Amplifi line of home networking solutions.”

The PowerLine AV 500 adapter, the Adapter Starter Kit and the four-port Gigabit Switch can be plugged in a regular power outlet for speedy wall-to-wall connectivity even to places like basements and attics. The PowerLine HomePlug AV compatible products claim to stream content at a speed of 500Mbps and a prioritized internet traffic with QoS engine without any glitches.

The Amplifi family products are available at D-Link retail outlets and Fry and Micro Center and also its official website. The HD Media Router 1000 (DIR-657) is priced at $149.99 (approx. Rs. 6,740), Wi-Fi Booster (DAP-1525) at $159.99 (approx. Rs. 7,190), DHP-500AV Adapter at $99.99 (approx. Rs. 4,490), DHP-501AV Starter Kit (two adapters) at $159.99 (approx. Rs. 7,187) and DHP-540 Four-Port Gigabit Switch at $199.99 (approx. Rs. 8,985) and are now available. The Whole Home Router 1000 (DIR-645) is priced at $119.99 (approx.
