Texas Instruments Incorporated puts to fore its new 3.2-W mono Class-D audio amp, the TPA2011D1. It is integrated with a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) noise filter to reduce codec noise. Compared to other devices, it claims to reduce noise by 82 percent.

The in-built noise filter eliminates the need for an external filter on the inputs that eventually reduces component cost and count. The Class-D amplifier with 1.2-mm x 1.2-mm dimensions comes in a smaller package. Thus, the space saving ability could be beneficial to designers yenning for a 0.4-mm pitch for next-generation mobile phones and other portable devices.

Some notable attributes include the ability to produce 22 percent louder audio with 3.2W into 4 Ohms at 5V. It is also integrated with image reject filter offering low-pass cutoff frequency of 130 kHz. This could save board space and also simply design.

The 1.5-mA quiescent current ensures 50 percent lower power compared to other amplifiers. This results into higher battery efficiency and improved battery life. Evaluation modules and samples are available at ti.com/tpa2011d1-pr.
