Verizon Wireless launches Network Extender for enhanced in-home calls

Verizon Wireless Network Extender Verizon Wireless recently unveiled a new Network Extender that will allow users to enjoy in house calls. The extender is meant to improve the wireless call coverage while users are inside their homes or other any other locations and structures that tend to interfere with call reception.

Manufactured by Samsung, Verizon’s latest Network Extender is about the size of a wireless router. The device will improve the call quality by routing calls through the user’s home broadband Internet connection. The system is easy to set up and also offers effortless usability. The right out of the box device delivers coverage in an area of up to 5,000 square feet.

The Network Extender is great for users who need to enhance their phone’s wireless signal. It can be used while making voice calls, sending text/picture/video messages, accessing Mobile Web or simply accessing the smartphone or the phone’s data. The extender enhances the call capabilities in structural barriers, basement rooms and even in remote, mountainous or hilly areas.

Jack Plating, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Verizon Wireless, commented “Our new Network Extender device will bring the full benefit of the Verizon Wireless voice network to the small but important segment of customers who may experience a weaker signal in their homes because of geographic or structural conditions.”

Minus any support for EVDO speeds or services, the Network Extender also provides improved network access for users living on the geographical borders of the Verizon Wireless network. Users can take advantage of the call capabilities of the device irrespective of their calling plans. Even those in Verizon’s Family SharePlan can place calls with the Network Extender. The extender also allows users to manage it through the account management feature on their My Verizon online account.

The Verizon Wireless Network Extender is available now for an approximate price of $249.99 plus local taxes. The extender has been bundled without any monthly fees. Users also don’t need to worry about updating their plans.
