Verizon BlackBerry Z10 up for pre-order, release date is March 28

The price and the BlackBerry Z10 release date has been confirmed by Verizon Wireless and the big red carrier has announced that the smartphone which is to go up for pre-order today, will hit store shelves on March 28 for $199.99 (approx. Rs. 10,875). AT&T has already revealed its plans to start shipping the phone on March 20 itself and it will be available through retail channels from March 22.

Apart from the black version of the handset, the carrier will also sell its white variant exclusively in the US. Needless to say, it is compatible with 4G LTE mobile network. Based on the latest iteration of the BB OS, the device offers a multi-touch real estate of 4.2 inches on its front panel. This high resolution TFT capacitive display renders clear visuals in 1280 x 768p resolution and has a pixel density of 356ppi.

With dimensions of 5.12 x 2.58 x 0.35 inches, the body weighs 4.8 ounces and brings along dual cameras. A 2MP webcam sits on the front to allow prospective customers to make video calls and make the most of the BBM Video and Screen Share function of the 10 OS. An 8MP auto focus snapper with LED flash and 5x digital zoom is fitted on the flip side. There’s the Story Maker application for stitching pictures together and a video recorder for shooting HD movies at the rate of 30 frames per second.

Hoarding digital content on the device in question should not be a problem as it has been loaded with 16GB of internal storage. And users get an option to increase its memory as well, thanks to an expansion slot for a microSD card of up to 32GB capacity. Besides this, the phone features 2GB of RAM, a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 processor and a 1800mAh battery for coughing up the juice for about 10 hours at a stretch.

The BlackBerry Z10 will be up for sale through the official website and authorized retail stores along with qualifying data plans and a two-year agreement.
