iPhone 5 sales reach 5 million over the weekend, demand exceeds supply

iPhone 5 Sales

According to the latest development in the Cupertino quarters, the iPhone 5 sales have reached a whopping 5 million in the first weekend itself. This number is apparently eye-catching considering that it’s just 3 days since the sixth generation handset went live. As per the statistics, the demand surpassed the initial supply and hence many pre-booking customers are yet to receive their shipments which should now reach by October.

The latest Apple cookie drops in fresh out of the oven in color combinations of black and slate or white and silver. It runs the latest iOS 6 mobile platform that brings with it a lot of enhancements covering improved Siri, additional language support, Passbook, Facebook integration, a new Maps application and a lot more.

“Demand for iPhone 5 has been incredible and we are working hard to get an iPhone 5 into the hands of every customer who wants one as quickly as possible. While we have sold out of our initial supply, stores continue to receive iPhone 5 shipments regularly and customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough iPhone 5s for everyone,” expressed Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

Sixth Generation iPhone

In terms of hardware specifications, the iPhone 5 sports a 4-inch Retina display and an 8MP iSight snapper graces the rear. A FaceTime HD sensor perches itself on the front bezel for self-portraits and video calls. The device is integrated with the newly released A6 chip to deliver faster operations as compared to that seen in earlier editions. The battery life is expected to be better as well, while the handset arrives with support for wireless technology.

The iPhone 5 is all set for its globetrotting spree and it will hit Denmark, Spain, Sweden, Lithuania, Ireland, Finland, Italy, Portugal, Norway, Czech Republic and Austria on September 28. The list also covers several other countries including Belgium, Denmark, Hungary, Estonia, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovakia, New Zealand, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Slovenia.
