AT&T Samsung Rugby Smart rugged phone to be available from March 4

The tech terrain has recently been exposed to a rugged mobile device in the form of the AT&T Samsung Rugby Smart. According to the company, this smartphone can work in extreme environments and harsh conditions.

This waterproof gadget can reportedly be submerged in up to 1m water for a span of nearly 30 minutes. It could also combat fluctuating and extreme temperature levels, as revealed by the company. Moreover, this entrant claims to be dustproof and supports facilities like EDGE, UMTS, GSM and HSPA+, too. As far as other specs are concerned, the offering operates on Android 2.3 and sports a virtual QWERTY keypad.

A 3.7-inch WVGA Super AMOLED touchscreen display is what is on offer by the device. The back panel of the gadget incorporates a 5MP camera with flash and HD video recording. There is also a 1.3MP snapper on the front side for video conferencing. Other attributes like corporate email, 4G services and social networking stay right in place.

Besides aiming to offer durability, the handset enables talk time of approximately 8 hours along with a standby time of almost 16 days. This phone features up to 4GB internal memory, which can be extended to 32GB via the microSD slot provided for the same. Sporting dimensions of 122.4mm x 65.9mm x 12.19mm, the phone operates on a 1650mAh Li-Ion Poly battery.

The AT&T Samsung Rugby Smart price is tagged at $99.99 with a two-year commitment and monthly minimum data plan. It is expected to be sold by the carrier from March 4 onwards.
