Affordable BlackBerry Curve 9220 arrives in India

The BlackBerry Curve 9220 is apparently, the most affordable BlackBerry 7 OS smartphone to wash up on the shores of India. The device offers ease of use and is complete with the BlackBerry messaging service as well as most other social networking features associated with RIM phones.

The latest Curve phone dons a sleek and compact form factor and allows users to keep in touch with family and friends through its social features. Besides BBM and a dedicated button to launch the company’s proprietary service, the handset is loaded with Twitter and Facebook applications and includes Social Feeds for updating various social apps together or accessing RSS feeds, news and more at the same place.

“India is a very important market for RIM and we are extremely proud and excited to officially unveil and launch the new BlackBerry Curve 9220 for the first time here in India,” commented Carlo Chiarello, SVP, Smartphone Business at Research In Motion.

The device in question runs the BlackBerry 7.1 OS and ensures access to the BlackBerry App World. The Wi-Fi connectivity function of this handset boasts of a fast internet browsing experience, without a network connection. The multimedia-ready phone has been integrated with FM radio too. It can cough up the juice for talk time of about 7 hours and provides music listening time of close to 28 hours, reveals the company.

The BlackBerry Curve 9220 release date is April 19, but the company has not disclosed the price yet. As mentioned before, it is expected to be the most affordable BlackBerry 7 OS smartphone.
