The LG Optimus Regard, an affordable smartphone that carries a price tag of under $250 off-contract is now available through Cricket in the US. It treats itself to Ice Cream Sandwich and is said to be the first device from the carrier to run on the 4G LTE network.
This LG phone gains steam from a dual core chipset that processes at a maximum speed of 1.2GHz along with 1GB of RAM in order to facilitate smooth navigation and extend support to multiple applications at the same time. Its front panel is dominated by a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen of 480 x 320p resolution. The display is also reinforced with a Corning Gorilla Glass coating for resistance against scrapes and scratches.
The smartphone is fitted with a VGA front-facing camera for video calling purposes, while a 5MP primary snapper with digital zoom and LED flash, lays claim over the flip side and is capable of recording high definition 1080p videos. Moreover, the device features Time Catch Shot to click pictures before pressing the shutter button as well as Cheese Shutter that recognizes voice to take photos.
Based on the Android 4.0 platform, it ships with 8GB of internal storage and an expansion slot, so users can increase the memory by up to 32GB using a microSD card. The Optimus Regard has a built-in music player which is compatible with a number of audio formats such as AAC, MP3, WAV, WMA and AAC+. The LG Optimus Regard from Cricket can be purchased for a price of $249.99 (approx. Rs. 13,720) with 4G LTE Android Double Data service plans starting at $50 (approx. Rs. 2,745) per month.
