Acer Allegro Windows Phone 7 smartphone unveiled in France

Onkyo CBX-300 After the Nokia Lumia series, another smartphone running the Windows Phone 7 operating system dubbed Acer Allegro is gearing up to set its foot in the market. The smartphone, also known as the Acer W4, has currently arrived in France and comes across as a basic device which may fail to impress most tech-savvy users.

As Pocket-lint points out, Acer has not been vocal about its association with Microsoft. But an announcement regarding the collaboration was made by Microsoft, earlier this year. The smartphone measuring 11.6 x 5.9 x 13 millimeters tips the scale at 126 grams. It features a 3.6-inch WVGA multi-touch screen capable of offering a resolution of 480 x 800p. It employs the 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor and operates with the Windows Phone Mango platform. The device is integrated with various sensors such as proximity sensor, light sensor, accelerometer and more. The 5 megapixel camera with built-in LED flash of the Allegro allows users to capture high definition videos and images.

Boasting of 8GB on-board storage memory, this GPS certified handset offers communication options like Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. It is powered by a 1300mAh battery and is deployed with the Fast Charge technology. This technology utilized in Acer computers and tablets claims to charge it 2.5 times faster. It should cough up the juice for about 6 hours.

The Acer Allegro smartphone priced at €299 (approx. Rs. 20,400), is slated to hit shelves in France by mid-November though there is no word on its availability around the globe.
