Nokia fans, who were eagerly awaiting the third generation Symbian OS, have something to smile about. The Nokia E6 smartphone is a touch and type business device which will be first amongst the Symbian Anna smartphones to be launched in India. An online process to pre-book the phone has been announced by the company.

A touch & type Monobloc design along with a full QWERTY keypad will feature on the E6’s compact stainless steel body. It will offer access to Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Communicator Mobile and Microsoft SharePoint. The new E6 is equipped with an 8MP EDOF camera with dual LED flash and 2x digital zoom. For video call enthusiasts, there’s also a VGA front camera. The device has an 8GB internal memory.

A number of apps, productivity tools, web-based services and location-based services, games, videos and podcasts designed specifically for the E6 are available in Nokia’s Ovi Store. Users will also get social network updates on their homescreens. This smartphone is claimed by its manufacturers to have an exceptional battery life. Business security features like device lock and wipe, secure intranet access and device management are also loaded in the E6.

The smartphone will be available only for display at select Nokia Priority stores. To purchase the handset, buyers have to logon to Nokia’s website, fill up a form and specify their preferred Nokia Priority store. They would then receive a call from the store within 24 hours, where the E6 can be ordered by paying an amount of Rs. 2000.
