GDC attendees to be handed out Android phones for free

Nexus One Droid

There was surely good enough reason for developers to attend the GDC 2010. But here’s something that seems to offer an even better cause for attending it – those present at the Game Developers Conference 2010 will receive Google’s Nexus One or Verizon Droid by Motorola for free.

This complimentary offer is not extended to members of the press, GDC comp attendees, speakers and conference associates. Additionally, attendees are required to register for the conference by February 4, 2010 to avail of either of the complimentary Android phones.

Only paid or registered attendees with All Access or Summits and Tutorials passes who have registered for the GDC Mobile/Handheld Summit, iPhone Summit or Independent Games Summit are eligible to receive the free phone. Reading between the lines a little more, attendees must check the opt-in box during the registration to receive the device.

Current registrants can update the opt-in selection by returning to their registration profiles though they are not permitted to change their existing Summits and Tutorials selection. Qualified attendees will be notified through a confirmation letter via e-mail after February 8, 2010.

The Droid and Nexus One handsets will be handed out on a random distribution basis at the GDC on March 9 or 10, 2010.
