Dell Streak expected to hit markets this month

Desktops and notebooks offered by Dell seem to have a great fan following. Now Dell has disclosed plans to release the Streak smartphone cum tablet later this month. The 5” WVGA TFT LCD Gorilla glass touchscreen of the gadget displays a resolution of about 800 x 480p.

The device runs on the QSD 8250 processor and flaunts a 5MP rear camera with AF functionality as well as a front facing VGA camera. The storage capacity of the device is backed by 512MB ROM and 512MB SDRAM. The built-in 2GB microSD memory is expandable by up to 32GB. This Android powered device offers users a WebKit browser for accessing e-mails and IM.

The network of this handset spreads across UMTS 2100 / 1900 / 850 MHz, GSM / EDGE 1900 / 1800 / 900 / 850 MHz, HSDPA / HSUPA HSDPA 7.2MB/s / HSUPA 5.76MB/s. It supports a host of audio formats that include MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR, Midi and WAV. Users can also play H.263 / H.264, .3GP, MPEG4, WMV videos on the gadget.

Users can enjoy an array of apps and services through Google and the Android Market. Apart from being Bluetooth enabled, the Streak offers wireless connectivity through the in-built Wi-Fi functionality. The integrated A-GPS supports the navigational feature of the handset. The dimensions of this device measure approximately 6” x 3.1” x 0.4”.

The Dell Streak handset is expected to arrive later this month. There is no word about the gadget’s pricing as of now.
