AT&T to offer Motorola Backflip Android phone

Nothing but Android-run phones seem to be making it to the news these days. The latest is the Motorola Backflip Android handset that will be launched by AT&T, come this March. The device comes with Motoblur that integrates messages, e-mails and updates from various sources including social networking sites to provide a simplified user experience. It also assists owners in locating their lost devices from a secure personal information portal and retrieving information stored on it.

The exterior displays a 3.1” HVGA touchscreen that renders visuals in 320 x 480p resolutions and a back-flip QWETRY keyboard. The new Backtrack touch panel which is located behind the display delivers a novel way of navigating through the phone’s various functions without obscuring the homescreen. Pictures or videos can be captured with its 5MP AF camera that features LED flash. Internet access is provided with the Android Webkit full HTML browser, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and AT&T hotspots.

The Backflip hosts a 3.5mm headset jack and accommodates AAC, H.263, H.264, MP3, MPEG-4, WAV, MIDI, AAC+ formatted files. The messaging functions comprise of SMS, MMS, POP3/IMAP, Push Gmail, Google Talk and more. Users can take advantage of broadband data speeds offered by 7.2 HSPA 3G technology and are provided access to the Android Market too. This 53mm x 108mm x 15.3mm device is powered by a 1400mAh battery comes with A-GPS, 2GB internal memory, a microSD slot as also a microUSB connector.

AT&T will sell the Motorola Backflip starting from March 7, 2010 at $99.99 (approx. Rs. 4,630) on a two-year contract basis through their official website and retail stores.
