Motorola debuts Motoroi smartphone in Korea

There may be very few gadget enthusiasts who aren’t entertaining the thought that Google’s Android is taking over the mobile OS scene. Motorola has introduced their Motoroi smartphone powered by Android version 2.0 to the Korean markets through SK Telecom. The device comes with a full touchscreen, 8MP camera with Xenon flash and QWERTY keyboard.

The 3.7” HD WVGA touchscreen that renders visuals in resolutions of 480 x 854p accommodates a touch UI and capacitive touch sensor. The screen flaunts up to five customizable main displays and allows for smooth screen flipping, scrolling as also pinch-and-zoom browsing. Text-input choices include, full QWERTY, half QWERTY, a 3 x 4 keypad, hand writing and writing pad. The device offers around 8GB of storage and up to 32GB of microSD support.

The phone’s 8MP camera also functions as a 720p HD camcorder and extends Smart image capture options like easy panorama, face detection, red eye reduction, camera shake prevention, face filter and multi-shot. It comes with a suite of Google applications such as Google Maps, Gmail, Google Talk as well as YouTube that are accessible courtesy of Wi-Fi support and Android Web Kit Browser. Apart from permitting user to open multiple applications simultaneously, up to eight open browser windows are also accommodated by the phone.

Tools like Gmail Contacts sync, Microsoft and PDF document viewer, Optical Character Recognition, and those for synchronizing as well as managing multiple email accounts are available for business use. The screen features a proximity sensor that intuitively locks the device when a user is conversing on it. Other mentioned features comprise of HDMI and MP3 capability, access to Terrestrial DMB, docking station and an integrated 3.5mm jack. Owners can search for and download various other applications form the Android Market with Motoroi.

Motorola’s Motoroi smartphone will be out at SK Telecom retailers across Korea early next month.
