Smartphones are capable of offering advanced computing and connectivity as compared to basic feature phones. Enhancing its functionality further, HTC collaborated with Telstra to offer the latest Android phone, the HTC Wildfire. This handset helps users to connect with friends and family while on the go. Pre-paid and post-paid users can access various engaging social networking sites.

The enticing handset flaunts next-generation caller ID and the ability to share apps intuitively from the smartphone. Featuring the HTC Sync, this device offers media sync that is compatible with other media players available on a PC. Device owners can now store their favorite tunes, playlists and images on the handset effortlessly. Telstra users can also subscribe to Mobile Foxtel from AFL and NRL apps. Typing is no more a tedious job as the HTC Wildfire features the latest Swype text input technology.

“Following in the footsteps of the HTC Desire, the HTC Wildfire addresses the Social Networking Generation those younger audiences who want to bring their friends closer to them through app sharing and the integration of social networks – all at a cost effective price. With Media Sync, they can also now carry around their favourite music and photos more easily,” remarked Anthony Petts, Sales and Marketing Director ANZ, HTC Corporation.

Designed with a 3.2-inch touchscreen, the handset comes equipped with a 5MP camera with auto focus and LED flash. Patrons can access HTC’s Friend Stream app which impeccably gathers social networking updates into a single stream. Wide array of unmetered BigPond entertainment, including news, sport, music and weather offers users a complete entertainment experience. Telstra’s Tribe service enables users to browse social networking sites at no cost within Australia by assimilating Facebook, Twitter and MySpace in a single mobile portal.

“With the explosion of interest in smartphones, our pre-paid customers have been asking Telstra for a good value way to get in on the action. HTC Wildfire is our first pre-paid smartphone for Next G™ customers and provides a terrific way for people to start enjoying features like mobile web browsing and watching video clips on the go. We know our customers will love the HTC Wildfire’s compact size and its easy-to-use menus that can be filled with thousands of fun Android apps and games,” quoted Richard Fink, Director, Telstra Mobility Products.

Interestingly, the People widget helps users locate friends straight from the homescreen. This certainly helps handset owners to call, text or e-mail with utmost ease. Various other scintillating features include full Flash support, pinch-to-zoom and auto rotation from portrait to landscape mode. Additionally, it subsumes one-touch dictionary, translation and Wikipedia lookup. Share apps directly from the phone simply by sending a link through Facebook, Twitter and various other social networking sites or Friend Stream. This helps users locate the app immediately on the Android Market. In addition, attractive apps on the Android Market include games, social networking apps and new arrivals are expected.

Testra users can purchase this new enticing smartphone beginning August 24, 2010. Pre-paid users can pick the handset outright for $349 (approx Rs. 16,320).
