O2 to offer Palm Pre and iPhone?

In UK, O2 may be the first and probably the only provider to offer the Palm Pre as well as the iPhone, reports Electronista. The company plans to market a GSM version of the Palm Pre. However, the launch may delay due to the shortage of handsets in America. Apparently, this may eventually delay all the international releases of the phone.

Although O2 is said to be an exclusive carrier of the iPhone, it may still provide users with Pre. The latest rumors surfacing also talk about O2 losing its exclusive rights over the iPhone in UK. This could supposedly be the reason for the company’s inclination towards the Palm Pre.

Let’s brush through some features of the Palm Pre which include QWERTY slider keyboard, 3.1-inch touchscreen with 24-bit color and 320 x 480 resolution HVGA display along with a light sensor. The device measures 59.57mm (W) x 100.53mm (L, closed) x 16.95mm (D) and weighs approximately 135g. It also features a removable and rechargeable battery and supports 3G EVDO Rev. A standards and integrated GPS.

Although O2 hasn’t confirmed this news, Palm has affirmed that a GSM model of the Pre is on its way to the market. Reportedly the Palm Pre is expected to go on sale from June 6 in the US, while there is still no official release date for UK. The pricing of the product still remains under wraps.
