New Palm Pre Phone based on webOS Mobile Platform Launched

Palm Pre Phone

Palm recently unveiled its Pre phone. The phone is interestingly based on an innovative mobile platform dubbed as webOS. The novel platform has been fabricated to help users stay upfront with continuous connection to the web.

The distinct platform is highlighted by the fact that it is in fact the very first mobile platform that has been structured from the ground up with a unique blend of regular technology and integration. The new platform caters to the exclusive needs of mobile users with web technologies such as CSS, XHTML and JavaScript as its core technologies.

With advanced functionality the OS will allow users to identify people, calendars and information while on the go. Offering a simple and integrated view, webOS boasts of keeping within a user’s reach information from a host of locations including mobile phone or at work places helping them stay in sync with their needs. This logical view is thanks to the incorporated Palm Synergy feature.

Speaking on the occasion, Ed Colligan, Palm president and chief executive officer, remarked “Palm products have always been about simplifying lives and delivering great user experiences. webOS and Pre bring game-changing simplicity to an increasingly mobile world by dissolving the barriers that surround your information. It’s technology that seems like it’s thinking ahead to bring you what you care about most – your people, your time, and your information – in the easiest and most seamless way.”

Other features of the Palm Synergy technology are linked contacts that gives users a single view of contacts linked from many sources and layered calendars that gives a single view of calendars layered on their own or together which allows users to merge through work, family, friends, sports teams, or other interests. Palm Synergy also enables users to enjoy a combined messaging feature that will put up the conversations of a single person with the same person in a chat-style view with an option to view the buddy list straight from the contacts.

Packed with a unique and instinctive user interface which is also multi-touch enabled, the platform allows users to stay more upfront. Additional attributes of the novel mobile platform include access to web-connected applications, simultaneous management and operation of multiple applications, intuitive and unobtrusive notifications that will keep users updated about important things.

The first device, Pre phone that incorporates the innovative webOS mobile platform will reach stores in the US around Q1 of 2009
