Handset manufacturers may be looking at releasing new versions of smartphones to not only boost market revenue, but also increase customer satisfaction. Almost everyone may like to stay connected to their social networking sites on the go. Spotting this preference, Motorola has announced the launch of Motorola Dext supported by the Motoblur solution. The phone launches exclusively via Orange.

Motoblur is a UI devised by the Google Android mobile OS. The company first introduced it with the Motorola Cliq smartphone. This UI enables users to log into several sites in one go. That means, everything from e-mail to post, message or photo updates turn up on the home screen without necessitating the opening and closing of each application separately. Accessing Facebook, MySpace and Twitter is much made much easier by this Android 1.5 powered handset. It also sports a high-speed microUSB 2.0 connector and noise reduction intelligence in the form of dual mic noise cancellation technology.

The phone boasts of a 3.1” 320 x 480 pixel HVGA touchscreen, slider QWERTY keyboard, full HTML browser, stereo Bluetooth 2.0+EDr, GSM, 3G, Edge and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g. The integrated 5MP auto focus camera is connected to networking sites to allow convenient uploading. The video shoots at 24fps while MPEG4, H.263, H.264 and YouTube videos can be played back on this device.

Additionally, the product has a 2GB removable microSD card and also accommodates up to 32GB microSD storage. Users can make their own playlists or hear what friends are listening to on LastFM. Other features include a 3.5mm headset jack, GPS with turn by turn directions, Google Mobile Service like Maps, Voice Search and more. The audio system encompasses AAC, AAC, MP3, WAV and more. Video streaming supports MPEG4 and 3GP.

Orange customers who go in for a 24-month contract with the company at £34.26 (approx. Rs.2,543) per month will receive the device for free. In addition, they will also get 900 call minutes to any network, Orange Maps, inclusive anytime browsing and unlimited texts.

The phone is available in the color titanium. It is already out in the UK at Orange outlets and Phones 4u outlets.
