HTC releases HD2 Windows phone with HTC Sense

Well, it has been a busy month for HTC with the releases of their various handsets. Lately the company unveiled the HTC Imagio smartphone. And now it comes up with the first ever Windows phone called the HTC HD2. This Windows-based handset is also said to incorporate HTC’s Sense user interface.

The HD2 boasts of a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display. This screen promises to provide sharper, richer and brighter display. This display combines with the Windows operating system to ease tasks like viewing, zooming and resizing websites and other documents with just a pinch of the fingers. The underscore of this device is the 1GHz Qualcomm processor called Snapdragon that promises to offer enhanced performance as well as improved speed.

The HD2 allows user to configure and personalize their homescreen with various applications that they frequently use. Users can also opt to download additional applications from the Windows Marketplace for Mobile. The people-centric communication approach of this handset helps users to stay connected with their loved ones. This feature provides a single contact view that displays conversations including calls, text messages, Facebook status updates and emails.

“HTC has a long history of innovation with Windows Mobile, shipping millions of devices over the years in a wide range of designs,” said Andy Lees, senior vice president, Mobile Communication Business, Microsoft Corp. “The HTC HD2 Windows phone breaks new ground with its responsive, touch screen.”

The 5 megapixel camera of the handset captures all images in crisp and bright colors. The Sense user interface is said to provide a never before touch experience with its various enhancements. Apart from this, the HD2 comes embedded with a light sensor that automatically adjusts the brightness of the display depending on the ambient light. The other notable features of this windows based phone include 3G broadband connectivity, proximity sensor and support for Microsoft’s latest My Phone service.

HTC plans to offer the HTC HD2 later this month. The handset will initially be made available in Europe via select operators. The handset is expected to hit other regions in the coming months. However, the pricing details are not revealed.
