Idea Radio, a Mobile Internet Radio Service launched in India by IDEA and Geodesic

Geodesic and IDEA Radio Geodesic, an innovator of mobile phone and desktop PC software products, has entered into an agreement with India-based GSM network operator IDEA Cellular to offer a Mobile Internet Radio service, called IDEA Radio.

The IDEA Radio incorporates Geodesic’s Mundu Radio technology into mobile phones, allowing the 20 million subscribers to seamlessly tune into an array of interesting entertainment channels throughout the day. It also offers wide range of genres, eliminating the hassle of searching a limited range of FM radio stations.

According to Geodesic’s MD, Kiran Kulkarni, “Mobile devices are the preferred mode of entertainment today, and the IDEA Radio implementation is representative of Geodesic’s stated strategy to provide innovative, revenue-enhancing mobile solutions to service providers. We are proud to have our Mundu Radio technology provide a competitive edge to IDEA.”

Users will experience all genres of music such as Bollywood, dance, Indi-pop, love songs and devotional music along with 80s and 90s, regional music that includes Punjabi and Bhojpuri. Moreover, western music such as Pop, Rock, Hip-hop and Jazz are also included.

Mobile phone users can SMS “IRADIO” to 55456 or point their GPRS phone browser to http://idearadio.mundu.com to download the Idea Radio client directly to their GPRS-enabled mobile phones. A one-day free trail of IDEA Radio is also available.
