MakeMyTrip allows Mobile Phone Users to Book Traveling Tickets

MakeMyTrip and mCheck logo India’s leading e-Commerce player, MakeMyTrip has partnered with mChek, an SMS-based simple and secure payment system, to allow mobile phone users to access the country’s first holistic MCommerce. This enables travelers to search, book, pay and even receive their tickets on their handset without any additional cost.

This new mobile travel product can do away with GPRS subscription and work anywhere, anytime in the country. To make accessible the MakeMyTrip AnyMobile service, you need to SMS “MakeMyTrip” to 543219. You have to follow the instructional menu that is showed on the phone display and then start the process of searching, booking and payment of the flight tickets.

Sachin Bhatia, CMO & Co-Founder, MakeMyTrip.com, said, “This launch positions MakeMyTrip as the first travel Company to offer a true MCommerce platform for travelers in India. It is our biggest mobile initiative so far and strengthens the existing channels of access that we offer. Our mobile booking facility is now accessible to the user-base of 60 million Airtel subscribers. This development is also a triumph for our R&D division since the WAP application has been designed indigenously.”

The payment is done by credit card, which is registered on mChek. You have to enter the 4-digit mChek PIN to book the ticket whenever required. mCheck offers only domestic flight booking. During payment, the company links users’ credit cards to their mobile numbers through a one-time registration.

Sanjay Swamy, CEO of mChek, explained “Searching and purchasing tickets on the go, using even the simplest of mobile phones is a landmark for mobile commerce. We are delighted to work with MakeMyTrip and Airtel to bring this anytime-anywhere convenience to consumers.”

However, at present, the service is only available for Airtel subscribers. You can register on mChek, if you have an active VISA / MasterCard powered credit card. Airtel users have Airtel Live, an integrated application that enables Airtel GPRS subscribers to access MakeMyTrip services by just one-click. It comes with an in-built Demo section to try and get familiar with application.

Additionally, MakeMyTrip has collaborated with Nokia to offer pre-built MakeMyTrip JAVA application on Nokia N-series, ensuring flight bookings anytime, anywhere. It is a free download facility for Nokia phone users and air tickets will be booked instantly.

Travelers will receive an e-ticket and PNR number onto their mobile phones.
