Verizon LG5200 GlucoPhone with built-in Blood Glucose Meter

Diabetes is something that is not predictable. Not only elders but children too are affected by it. Diabetic patients keep dealing with the diseases for ages. Till then they cannot stop their regular exercise and should maintain the food intake. There are many devices which detects the level of diabetes too.

Verizon LG5200 Glucophone

New Jersey-based HealthPia has come up with a device called GlucoPhone that sends glucose data over the net. HealthPia has introduced this device on Verizon LG5200 phone (CDMA platform) for the US market at AADE Conference.

GlucoPhone is a special glucose meter, which can be fitted onto the back of the mobile phone. The consumer or the diabetic patient needs to place the blood-sample into a tiny slot on the side of the phone for analysis.

Within no time, it provides you with the results via ‘text’ to a database available on net along with the subscriber’s permission (you set the access rights).

HealthPia is planning to develop more models for well-known handsets such as Motorola Razr and the Apple iPhone.

According to the sources, the original GlucoPhone technology was developed in Korea, and was imported to US by Dr. Stephen Kim in 2003.
