There are rumors around the internet that Google is planning to launch its Gphone that is a branded mobile handset.
According to rumors the Gphone is yet at the planning stage and would appear in the market by 2008. Also it is said that Google is developing a new software for its upcoming phone. Not only that, the company is expected to develop a sophisticated browser for the device too.
The rumored Gphone is expected to be a high-end phone and if released Google will gulp a bigger slice of the increasingly important mobile phone advertising market.
The Wall Street Journal said that Google had invested millions of dollars in the project and was even involved in discussions with T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless.
However, Google has denied the news and stated that the company was working with handset manufacturers and content providers for bringing its services to users everywhere.
Google also said to BBC News, “What our users and partners are telling us is that they want Google search and Google applications on mobile, and we are working hard every day to deliver that.”
