After enclosing a number of smartphones in its protective covering including some high-end ones, the PowerSkin battery-boosting Gaming Skin will now safeguard Nintendo 3DS. Besides protecting the handheld console, this covering increases the battery life to facilitate extended gaming.

The Gaming Skin is integrated with a 2000mAh battery that lets users enjoy 3D gaming on the console for up to 12 hours, whereas the 2D gaming time is said to be extended to about 18 hours. This permanent secondary power source also adds to the durability of the device by protecting during bumps and drops. The case is also embedded with an on/off button that allows keeping a track of its power status levels. Hitting this button results in flashing of the four LED indicators. One LED indicates 25 percent battery life and four LEDs designate 100 percent power life.

“The Gaming Skin for Nintendo 3DS is the first of many new introductions to come from PowerSkin as we approach the new year and the Consumer Electronics Show in January. With holiday season right around the corner, the Gaming Skin for Nintendo 3DS makes for a great stocking stuffer that will keep kids and adults entertained for hours,” commented David Becker, Executive Vice President of XPAL Power / PowerSkin.

The PowerSkin case charges while it is wrapped around the gaming device and does not require a separate charger. It acquires power through the Nintendo AC adapter and conserves energy of the handheld console as it drains its power before the device. Additionally, the case lets the device charge fully before it starts drawing power for itself.

The PowerSkin battery-boosting Gaming Skin for Nintendo 3DS price tag reads $79.99 (approx. Rs. 4,150). It is available for pre-order through the official website along with a $10 discount.
