Telstra has unveiled a new home phone called the T-Hub that works just like a mobile phone by combining features such as telephony, information and entertainment.
The T-Hub sports a huge 18cm homescreen that enables users to make/receive calls, messages, view Internet sites, play music and radio stations, organize family activities and also displays the latest news related to sports and weather. Users need to plug the T-Hub phone into a standard home telephone socket which links to a BigPond broadband service accessed by a home Wi-Fi modem.
“T-Hub works exclusively on Telstra’s fixed line and broadband networks giving customers a high quality, reliable service. Customers can also back up their contacts on Telstra’s secure network making sure they don’t lose important telephone numbers,” said Telstra Chief Marketing Officer, Ms Kate McKenzie.
This handsfree phone with touch panel makes calling easy while it also displays voice messages. The T-Hub offers mobile phone-like applications and features including one-touch access to BigPond and Sensis services alongside popular internet sites such as Facebook and YouTube.
“We’ve trialled the T-Hub and some of the most popular features were handsfree phone calls from the touch panel plus local weather, sports, news and finance information. Customers also found internet radio a great feature for the kitchen or living area, along with a digital photo frame,” Ms McKenzie.
Along with the traditional home phone features, the highlights of the T-Hub are an 18cm touchscreen, mobile-phone like applications, easy click search, calendar, notes for family members, lists of important contact numbers and addresses, alarm clock. It also serves as an entertainment hub.
The T-Hub will be available from April 20 through most T-life stores, Telstra Licensed stores, selected dealers, and also online and over the phone. It can also be purchased as a part of one of Telstra’s 15 bundled options which includes the Home Bundle 12GB plan for $109 (approx Rs. 4,823) per month plus $35 upfront with unlimited local calls, 12GB of data and Home Network Gateway on a 24 month contract.
