Sony bringing in new Blu-ray enabled entertainment products this July

Apart from the range of 3D HDTVs that Sony displayed recently, there was something more that the company had to offer. Sony also announced their all-new Blu-ray 3D home theater systems, Blu-ray 3D players and 3D capable home audio components.

The BDV-HZ970W is a 3D capable home theater system which accommodates Blu-ray. This 5.1 channel full HD system displays 1080p resolutions and provides users with wireless capabilities. The supplied 802.11n USB WLAN adapter allows users to connect it to the Bravia Internet Video platform and their Qriocity service.

The system hosts two HDMI inputs with 3D pass-through, repeater functions and a universal remote. All Sony Blu-ray Disc players offer iPhone and iPod touch users the ability to manage the players using a free app called BD Remote which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store. The app will be made available for Android devices that will allow them to function as remote controls with the ability to access a Blu-ray Disc’s details online.

Sony has also introduced the 3D capable home audio products that include the HT-CT350 and HT-CT150 3.1 channel sound bars as well as the STR-DN1010 AV receiver. The array also includes the HT-SF470 5.1 channel home theater system and offers users the Sony 3D experience. The company plans to incorporate 3D capability within their STR-DH810 and STR-DH710 AV receivers via a firmware update shortly.

The BDP-S770 is a 3D player attributed with Blu-ray and built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi. Users can access Sony’s Bravia internet video platform and Qriocity with this device. The BDP-S470 and BDP-S570 Blu-ray Disc players can also play Blu-ray 3D content with a free online firmware update. What’s more, this update also endows the players compatibility with DLNA.

The BDV-HZ970W home theatre system will be priced at about $800 (approx. Rs. 37,300) and the Blu-ray 3D players can be purchased at $300 (approx. Rs. 14,000). They can be expected to hit shelves in July this year.
