Verizon Wireless announces MiFi2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot

Verizon will be launching a new Intelligent Mobile Hotspot dubbed MiFi2200 on May 17. This Wi-Fi device enables users to share high speed connectivity of Verizon Wireless 3G Mobile Broadband network and is developed by Novatel Wireless. The device is capable of connecting maximum five Wi-Fi enabled devices including notebooks, mobile phones, netbooks, MP3 players, etc.

MiFi2200 measuring 3.5” x 2.3” x 0.4” and weighing 2.05 ounces is small enough to fit into ones pocket. This tiny device incorporates a variety of features like integrated internal CDMA, Wi-Fi antennas, advanced security and authentication technologies. The device gives 40 hours of standby time and can be used for four hours continuously by charging once when one device is connected.

“The MiFi 2200 gives more than 86 million customers access to the nation’s largest and most reliable 3G network,” said Mike Lanman, vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless. “With projected growth rates of over 30 percent for Wi-Fi mobile phones, MiFi will be of great benefit to both business customers and consumers. It gives customers the flexibility to transform their Wi-Fi-enabled consumer electronics into Mobile Broadband devices and to choose how and when they need to be connected at a price point that will match most budgets.”

The MiFi2200 is tagged at $99.99 (approx Rs.4,923) after a mail-in rebate of $50 with a two year customer agreement. This dainty device will be made available online and through Verizon Wireless Communication stores. Users can opt for various Verizon price plans.
