The Dell Inspiron 14R and Inspiron 15R laptops featuring the Ubuntu software platform have hit no less than 850 retail stores across India. Focused on enhancing the user experience, the introduction is said to deliver a ‘legal,’ ‘full-featured’ and ‘flexible’ substitute for proprietary software.

The company has laid out the aforementioned feature to offer easy access to a wide range of popular applications. These cover fields like business productivity, games, scientific research, social media and much more. Employing Ubuntu, the notebooks lay claim to offering a compelling mobile or in-home computing plan that may benefit users looking for competitive performance and security.

The two Inspiron members run on the Windows 7 Home Premium OS accompanied by the 3rd generation Intel Core i5-3210M processor. The former is fitted with 14″ HD WLED True-Life display, while the later is equipped with a 15.6″ HD WLED True-Life screen. Each gadget has up to 4GB 1 DIMM DDR3 1600Mhz internal memory and they draw power from a 6-cell 48WHr Li-ion battery.

The company also provides services like the Ubuntu Music Store for music search and downloading. For hoarding content, the device is fitted out with Ubuntu One cloud storage.

The Ubuntu-infused Dell Inspiron 14R and Inspiron 15R prices in India haven’t been clearly mentioned. The laptops will up for grabs from today onwards.
