HP walks the educational route with HP Mini 100e

From premium laptops to superior notebooks, HP has been offering diverse computing devices. Now, the company has decided to bring the educational sector under its shade with the launch of its new HP Mini 100e Education edition netbooks. This series has been designed with special focus to proffer reasonable and consistent computing technology to schools around the globe.

From its clamshell design to education-centric software such as Microsoft Office 2010 and Microsoft Math, this device has been composed to present students with a complete learning atmosphere. To ease the mobilization of the netbook, it has been incorporated with a carrying handle. The 10.1-inch LED backlit WSVGA display enhances content viewing on the screen. The HP Mini 100e comes with separate headphone and MIC ports, enabling smooth connection facilities. The VGA webcam embedded into the device facilitates e-conferencing, interactive multimedia classroom sessions and language courses. Plus, it features 92 percent of full size QWERTY keyboard that offers safety with its spill resistant technology.

Internet connectivity services are built into the netbook with an optional Wi-Fi Certified WLAN and a compatible modem with the V.92 standard. Students in remote areas will be able to access the internet even with dial-up connection from phone service providers. To augment efficiency in the classroom, it has been packed with a range of accessories including slip case, optical mouse, combo lock, student edition youth backpack and an external USB optical drive.

The netbook offers 1GB of DDR3 memory which enables faster data transfers. The HP Mini 100e has been packaged with Intel Atom N455 processor and Intel NM10 Express chipset. This facilitates the system to operate without heating quickly. It also permits low power consumption and helps to improve battery life of the device. Users are also offered optional supple battery solutions such as three or six-cell battery options.

Featuring exclusive traits such as back panel which can be customized, keyboard deck and bottom case, the netbook offers a wide scope for users to personalize the device with their school logos, mottos and more. The netbook can run on Windows XP Home, Windows 7 starter or SuSE Linux (SLED 11) operating systems.

The price of the netbook has been estimated to be around $300 per unit (approx Rs. 13,868). The netbooks will be made available worldwide from July 2010 onwards.
