Next-Generation Nvidia Ion brings 10X Graphics Performance and 10 Hours Battery Life to netbooks

Nvidia Next-Gen Graphics

The most recent news from the Nvidia Blog reveals that the next generation Nvidia Ion graphics processor has emerged, featuring up to ten times faster graphics performance compared to standard netbooks. In addition, the Nvidia Optimus Technology will help these netbooks deliver up to 10 hours of battery life.

The Blog also says that the new Ion graphics processing unit (GPU) outperforms basic netbook graphics with rich HD media in games, movies and Internet-based video. Ion netbooks possess the power to play HD video from sites like YouTube and also support popular PC games.

These Ion netbooks featuring Nvidia’s new Optimus technology automatically select the best graphics processor for running any given application that seamlessly routes the workload to either an Nvidia discrete GPU or Intel integrated graphics. This is said to result into improved battery life and superior performance.

More than 30 products with the new Ion GPU are expected to launch this summer. The Acer Aspire One 532G (10-inch) and ASUS Eee PC 1201PN (12-inch) are said to be the first new Ion netbooks while the all-in-one PCs powered by next-generation Ion include the Asus Eee Top 2010PNT and Lenovo C200.
