Samsung 4G LTE Dongle

The latest announcement from Samsung Electronics talks about the commercial availability of its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) dongle in Sweden and Norway.

Starting today, TeliaSonera offers commercial Samsung LTE dongles with model number GT-B3710 for consumers in Stockholm and Oslo. In October, TeliaSonera had selected Samsung as its 4G device provider.

Well, this service brings in about maximum download speeds of 100Mbps in 4G in Sweden and Norway which is about ten times faster than the speed of the current ‘Turbo 3G’ service. Claiming to be the world’s first commercialization, the TeliaSonera LTE service is said to extend possibilities for users to reap the benefits of high-speed data service on their laptops. Thus, enabling users advanced web TV broadcasting, online gaming and web conferencing.

The Samsung LTE dongle (GT-B3710) can be effortlessly connected to a laptop or other portable devices with a USB. The dongle comes integrated with Samsung’s LTE modem chip, branded Kalmia. It also supports 2.6GHz band for LTE service.

Samsung’s LTE solution is compliant with the latest 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) LTE Release 8 (Rel-8) standard. Samsung is also said to offer an updated version of the USB dongle with backward compatibility to LTE, HSPA, and EDGE service during the first half of 2010.
