Toshiba powers down Satellite T130 and T110 laptops with Intel CULV processor

Toshiba logoEveryone nowadays seem to be more conscious of the amount of electricity their appliances lap up. To assuage this need, Toshiba has come out with the Satellite T-series laptops comprising of the Satellite T110 and Satellite T130, the latter of which will be available in the satellite Pro class for business people.

The 11.6” T110 operates on Intel Pentium or Intel Celeron Single Core CULV processors and has up to 3GB DDR3 RAM and 250GB HDD space. The device sports a 1366 x 768 resolution LED backlit screen. Weighing in at 1.58kg and 22.2mm at its thinnest, this notebook is available in Precious Black and Iron Red Metallic colors.

The 13.3” T130 model features a 1366 x 768 resolution backlit LED display powered by an optional Intel Pentium or Intel Single Core or Intel Celeron Single Core CULV processor. It has a memory capacity of 4GB DDR3 RAM and 500GB HDD. This device tips the scale at 1.76kg and comes in Precious Black, Luxe White Pearl and Iron Red Metallic shades. Both notebooks are incorporated with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n plus Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, and also 3D sensors that lock down the hard drive if they fall, vibrate or encounter shock.

Each of the three editions have an HDMI port, 3 USB 2.0 ports, and a webcam with Face Recognition technology. No need for passwords with these laptops; the Face Recognition technology authorizes users to open files by just looking into the camera. The company’s Sleep-and-Charge technology lets more than one tool power up even the laptop is switched off. Intel’s CULV intelligence extends the running time between charges to around eleven hours.

Users can manipulate objects by using pinching, swiping, zooming or rotating finger gestures on the multi-touch control pad. The significant feature is the Eco-Utility software that gives users the option of powering down the electricity usage of the laptop to 75% on idle mode.

The T-series will be out from October 2009 onwards at £429 (approx. Rs.32,727).
