Toshiba Portégé R500, Yet Another MacBook Air Killer

Toshiba Portégé R500 laptop Yesterday we had reported about Lenovo developing a new MacBook Air killer. Before Lenovo could officially come out with it, Toshiba has announced to revamp its Portégé R500. The manufacturer has launched two models of the Portégé R500 laptop namely Portégé R500-11J and Portégé R500-11I.

The redesigned notebooks from Toshiba weigh just 779g and are as thin as 25.5mm, while the MacBook Air weighs 1.36kg and features thickness of 0.4-1.94 cm.

The new Portégé R500 notebooks also feature an integrated HSDPA support and Intel processor. Also, they sport a display of 12.1-inch and Wi-Fi capabilities.

The R500-11J features 64 GB SSD (Solid State Disk) and comes preloaded with Windows Vista. On the other hand Portégé R500-11I comes along with 120 GB (5400 rpm) S-ATA and Windows XP Professional.

Both the notebooks are now available in the American market at the price range of $3,000-$3,700.
