Panasonic advances Viera Cast plasma HDTVs with Twitter

Panasonic Twitter VT25

Panasonic’s crown jewel, the Viera Cast Plasma HDTV series is brimming with the latest technologies and bundles together several elements that the consumer A/V industry has to offer. Taking everything into consideration, the company has now put forth the activation of Twitter on Viera Cast enabled HDTVs. This enthralling information was first revealed in January at the International Consumer Electronics Show.

The company had initially enriched the HDTVs with several exciting features like Skype voice and video calling, Netflix, Pandora, and Fox Sports and a wide array of popular entertainment and information sites like Amazon Video on Demand, YouTube, Google’s Picasa Web Album, Bloomberg and a handy weather service.

“Since we introduced Panasonic Viera Cast IPTVs three years ago we have added more and more of the top entertainment and social networking sites in the world,” commented Merwan Mereby, Panasonic’s Vice President, Corporate Development. “The addition of Twitter to Viera Cast further strengthens the interactive options Panasonic Viera HDTV owners can now use to communicate with family and friends worldwide. Consumers with Viera Cast-enabled HDTVs can now tweet on Twitter, video chat via Skype, share videos on YouTube and digital photos via Google Picasa right from the comfort of their living rooms.”

Twitter enables users to send and read messages known as tweets which are usually text-based posts of around 140 characters. It has received abundant appreciation since its launch in 2006. There are approx 70 million tweets written each day by more than 145 million users.

Panasonic has advanced Viera Cast-enabled HDTVs with USB connectivity which enables owners to add a wireless LAN adaptor, a keyboard which offers seamless navigation and USB memory support which lends support to AVCHD video and JPEG photos. The convenience is enhanced as Viera Cast requires no additional external box or PC and it can be easily accessed with the help of a single button on the television remote control.

Users can enjoy this engaging innovation for free of cost.
