Sony flaunts 3D capable Bravia HDTVs

Sony Logo Tech world seems to be heavily flooded with numerous entertainment centered gadgets that rain down almost everyday. Sony has revealed plans to pour in with a series of Bravia 3D HDTVs that promise to let users indulge in a complete 3D experience.

The Bravia XBR-LX900 series is a range of full HDTVs that display images in 1920 x 1080p resolution. This 3D capable range includes the XBR-60LX900 which flaunts a 60” display and the XBR-52LX900 with a 52” display. These edge LED backlit TVs are attributed with Wi-Fi 802.11n for connectivity with Bravia’s Internet Widgets, Sony’s Bravia Internet Video Platform and their Qriocity service.

The Bravia XBR-HX909 series are accompanied by the company’s active shutter glasses and sync transmitter which can be bought separately. The 52” XBR-52HX909 and the 46” XBR-46HX909 are included in this series. These HDTVs exhibit 1920 x 1080p resolutions along with Sony’s Intelligent Dynamic full array LED backlighting.

The last mentioned enhances the contrast and the dynamic range which alters the LED backlight levels to maintain details in areas that are dark, whereas, other areas are are maintained at peak brightness. The HDTV models also integrate RS-232c I/0 terminals for custom installation of applications.

“3D is revolutionizing the entertainment industry and only Sony is involved in every stage of the ecosystem,” affirmed Chris Fawcett, vice president of Sony’s television business. “Leveraging deep 3D expertise from the company’s theatrical and professional groups, Sony products are optimized to offer the best possible 3D home entertainment experience.”

The company’s Bravia KDL-HX800 series includes the KDL-55HX800 which is a 55” HDTV, the 46” KDL-46HX800 and the KDL-40HX800 that measures 40” in size. These 3D enabled models feature 1920 x 1080p resolutions apart from LED backlighting with local dimming that enhances the contrast and dynamic range of visuals.

Sony plans to provide a copy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s Blu-ray 3D title ‘Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs’ with the 3D Bravia HDTVs and Blu-ray 3D copies of ‘Deep Sea’. Consumers will also be provided with a PS network voucher to download 3D games onto the PS3. Games like PAIN, WipEout HD and Super StarDust HD as also a demo of MotorStorm: Pacific Rift will be available for download.

The KDL-40HX800 is priced at approximately $2,100 (approx. Rs. 97,600) and the XBR-60LX900 at about $5,000 (approx. Rs. 2,32,470), while the KDL-46HX800 costs around $2,700 (approx. Rs. 1,25,500). The XBR-60LX900 is available for around $5,000 (approx. Rs. 2,32,470) and the XBR-52LX900 for about $4,000 (approx. Rs. 1,85,980). The XBR-52HX909 model can be purchased for about $4,000 (approx. Rs. 1,85,980) and the XBR-46HX909 for about $3,500 (approx. Rs. 1,62,730).
