3D capable gadgets seem to be taking the lead in the entertainment technology arena. Next in line to promote the 3D trend is LG’s offering of the Infinia LX9500 and LX6500 series of HDTVs and their 3D-ready BX580 network Blu-ray disc player. Designed to reproduce content in high-quality, users can now sink into a 3D experience while watching movies or sports at home.

The LX9500 HDTV is available as either in 47” or 55” variants and integrates 3D-capable LED display technology. Through the active shutter glasses and the built-in emitter, owners are exposed to 3D HD content in 1080p resolutions. The full LED Slim technology offers improved LED backlit image quality.

The sleek design with a 0.92” bezel gives the HDTV a borderless appearance. The series also provides users NetCast Entertainment Access entertainment options. Additionally, the gadget features Wi-Fi capabilities and comes with LG’s Magic Wand remote system. The device flaunts LED local dimming functionality, a 480Hz refresh rate and 2D THX Certification.

Available in either 47” or 55” panel sizes, the LX6500 series is attributed with significant power saving capabilities. It offers a dynamic mega contrast ratio amounting to 8,000,000:1. The built-in TruMotion 240Hz technology reduces motion blur and lets users enjoy sports and video games with enhanced clarity. What’s more, this model also accommodates Wi-Fi and NetCast features.

“While consumers are still seeking the ultimate 2D HDTV home entertainment experience, demand for 3D technology is growing by the day, and as more content becomes available in the 3D format, this demand will continue to increase,” explained Peter Reiner, senior VP, marketing, LG Electronics USA. “LG is now providing consumers with ‘something better’ in 3D sleek design, entertainment and online content options, and the extraordinary picture and sound quality that people have come to expect from LG.”

The LX9500 and LX6500 allow users to stream HD videos and movies through NetFlix. Owners can also rent or buy HD movies without the need for additional hardware or a monthly subscription with the built-in VUDU feature. Apart from that, users can access sites like YouTube, Picasa as well as Yahoo Widgets. Each device is equipped with Intelligent Sensor and ISFccc that allows users to adjust brightness or contrast levels and manage energy consumption.

The 3D capable BX580 network Blu-ray Disc player accommodates 2D Blu-ray discs and offers DVD playback too. Users can access online content through Netflix, YouTube, Picasa, Pandora and other online content through NetCast. Additionally, this Wi-Fi enabled device has received DLNA certification that permits owners to access content stored on other DLNA devices.

LG has revealed plans to offer two pairs of the 3D active shutter glasses and Warner Home Video’s Blu-ray 3D title Under the Sea for free to all those who buy the LX9500 or LX6500 LED HDTV along with the Blu-ray disc player. There’s no clear word on the pricing though the LX9500 is expected to arrive this month.
