After the successful launch of the Sony Bravia ZX5, series, Sony has made a new addition to the Bravia LCD HDTV lineup. This new addition is called the XBR10 series and is said to feature an advanced edge-lit LED backlight. The XBR10 series supports 1080p wireless transmission of high definition signals.
This series features an Ethernet connection that allows users to directly access Sony Bravia Internet video content. The Bravia Internet Widgets that are powered by the Yahoo! Widget Engine are said to expand and personalize the TV experience provided by the series.
“Bravia is on the cutting edge of television technology and the XBR10 series pushes the limits of industry-leading, innovative features,†said Jeff Goldstein, vice president of the television business for Sony Electronics. “Not only will this TV look striking when hanging on a wall, the wireless feature clears the clutter of components and messy tangles of unsightly wires, allowing you to hide components away across the room.â€
The XBR10 series is compatible with the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA). It allows users to easily access digital photos, music and videos stored on a PC or any DLNA server via the XMB interface. These HDTVs also offer support for USB storage devices. The other notable features of this series include Internet powered TV Guide, BRAVIA Sync, 4 HDMI inputs and RS232C.
The Sony Bravia XBR10 series HDTVs comply with the Energy Star 3.0 specifications. The Light Sensor technology is said to adjust the backlight according to the ambient light of the room. This feature helps HDTVs to save energy as well as reduce the overall carbon footprint. The KDL-52XBR10 and KDL-46XBR10 models will be made available from this October via Sony Style retail stores and the company’s official website. The models will retail for around $5000 (approx. Rs. 2,42,675) and $4500 (approx. Rs. 2,18,407) respectively.
